Cooking Made Simple.... How To Cook Gbegiri Soup
HOW TO PREPARE GBEGIRI SOUP....
We all know the best way to a man's heart is through is stomach.... Give him good food and keep your marriage tight.... Gbegiri Soup is a Yoruba native soup and its so delicious... Read through to get it done.
INGREDIENTS *300g Black Eyed or Brown Beans. *2 small smoked Mackerel/Titus (optional) *2tablespoon ground crayfish. *2big stock cubes. *2-3 cooking spoon palm oil. *.Pepper and salt (to taste).
Things to do before you start cook the Gbegiri Soup.
1. Remove the beans coat and soak the beans for about 3 hours. soaking the beans makes the beans soft so that it cooks in less time and you wont need to use potash to cook the beans. If you want to use peeled and dried beans sold in stores you will need to soak it overnight.
2.Prepare other ingredients: pound the pepper and grind the crayfish.
Cooking Directions
1.Put the peeled and soaked beans into a sizeable pot, Pour enough water to cover the beans and start cooking at medium heat.
2. Cook the beans till they become so soft that it melts when you mash it with your fingers. This should take about an hour. Remember to top up when needed. Ensure the water is always at the same level as the beans while cooking. With this procedure you will have the right amount of water in the soup when the beans is done.
3. Mash the very soft beans with a masher. You can also use your kitchen blender to blend the cooked beans for a very smooth consistency. it is not advisable to wait for the beans to cool down before blending it, therefore blend it and continue cooking.
4. When you okay with the smoothness of the beans, add the smoked fish if you are using it, its not compulsory but it add to the flavour of the soup.
5. Add salt, pepper, crayfish, stock cube and palm oil.
6.Cover the pot and cook at medium heat for about five minutes or till the palm oil is well combined with the rest of the ingredients. At this stage the colour of the oil changes from red to yellow.
7. Stir from time to time so that it does not burn.
8. The Gbegiri Soup is ready...
